Here is some of the best CEO advice I can give to anyone looking to grow professionally and the basics on how to handle any situation.
In every situation, first place yourself in a position before God. Remind yourself of your calling, your mission, the core values and the goals: what are you called to accomplish?
Next, think through the implications of the situation you're facing. Ask the qualified team members (who, hopefully you've surrounded yourself with - more on that another time) for their opinions of wisdom, and mentally apply all that you prayed about in step 1 across all scenarios in step 2.
Act with prudence, and wisdom, and courage. Remember, the only thing God can't bless is no movement whatsoever. Coordinate with your internal team and all of your external shareholders and/or customers in order to bring about the best outcome, so you're not acting alone. Thanks to step 1 and 2, God has your back.
Build into your life* disciplines of every one of these three areas. Time for concentrated prayer, time devoted to thinking and time for action. Thus, when something extraordinary arises, you've already built in the habits to address them.
*Personally, I do my weekly holy hour on Monday, attend mass daily, and I get back to adoration most days for an hour each morning. I don't stress if this gets shifted around by a last minute meeting or issue, but I simply reset to my routine.
